Bucs say QB Winston will start Sunday

(TSX / STATS) -- TAMPA -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed only to watch quarterback Jameis Winston throw footballs one day this week to know he is well enough to start Sunday's game at Buffalo.

Winston, who suffered an AC joint sprain in his right throwing shoulder in last Sunday's 38-33 loss at Arizona, took every rep with the first-team offense Friday - the first day he had thrown passes since the injury.

"Jameis threw the ball well today. He threw it well," head coach Dirk Koetter said. "He'll be our starter. Jameis is our starter. He'll be out there."

Lynch banned 1 game for pushing official

(TSX / STATS) -- The NFL suspended Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch one game for unsportsmanlike conduct in Thursday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, because he made contact with a referee.

The referee was trying to stop a melee that did not involve Lynch, who came from the bench area to join the scuffle.

Kuechly to sit Sunday due to concussion

(TSX / STATS) -- The Carolina Panthers ruled out middle linebacker Luke Kuechly for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears as he remained in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Kuechly suffered a concussion in last Thursday night's 28-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He did not get clearance over the last week for practice, even though he was seen participating in some individual drills.

Vikings' Barr fined, not for Rodgers hit

(TSX / STATS) -- Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr did get fined by the NFL, but not for the offense some expected.

Barr drew considerable attention for the hit he put on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers last Sunday, a blow that broke Rodgers' collarbone, causing him to be placed on injured reserve Friday.

Packers place Rodgers on injured reserve

(TSX / STATS) -- The Green Bay Packers placed quarterback Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve Friday, one day after he underwent surgery to repair his broken right collarbone.

Rodgers was injured in the first quarter of last Sunday's 23-10 loss at Minnesota after taking a hard hit from Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr.

Giants' Vernon out, Shepard questionable

(TSX / STATS) -- The New York Giants ruled out defensive end Olivier Vernon for the third straight week and listed wide receiver Sterling Shepard as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Vernon (ankle), center Weston Richburg (concussion), linebackers Jonathan Casillas (neck) and Calvin Munson (quad) and running back Paul Perkins (ribs) were all ruled out by the team on Friday.

Colts put RB Turbin on IR, add Ferguson

(TSX / STATS) -- The Indianapolis Colts placed running back Robert Turbin on the injured reserve list Friday after he suffered a dislocated left elbow in Monday night's loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The 5-foot-10, 216-pound Turbin played in all six games (one start) for Indianapolis this season with 23 carries for 53 yards and one touchdown. He also caught nine passes for 56 yards.

Raiders stun Chiefs 31-30 on final play

(TSX / STATS) -- OAKLAND, Calif. -- Derek Carr threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree with no time remaining Thursday night, lifting the Raiders to a stunning 31-30 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs that just may have saved Oakland's season.

The Raiders marched 85 yards in 11 plays for Carr's touchdown pass, tying the game 30-30. Giorgio Tavecchio kicked the extra point.

Khan: Jealousy fuels Trump's NFL issues

(TSX / STATS) -- Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan thinks he knows why President Donald Trump has had the NFL in his crosshairs.

Redskins put rookie DE Allen on IR

(TSX / STATS) -- ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins rookie defensive end Jonathan Allen looked like he belonged from the moment he took the field during organized team activities in May.

A first-round draft pick, chosen No. 17 overall from Alabama, Allen spent the rest of the summer and his first six NFL games showing that initial impression was correct. But his promising first season is likely over after having surgery to repair a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot. Washington placed Allen on injured reserve Thursday, a blow to a defense that has dramatically improved against the run.
